Small Spaces - Old Police Box

This weekend celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the TV show Dr Who...  with the blue Tardis Police box a familiar sight in all the programmes... So in celebration of all those old police boxes, some of which can still be seen around city centres, here is an illustration inspired by the only surviving box to be found in Sheffield City Centre on the corner of Surrey Street.

The City of Sheffield originally had approximately 120 such boxes, introduced in the late 1920's they served as a point of contact for both police and public, with the one on Surrey street remaining in active service until the 1980's.
Nowadays though you will often find them successfully repurposed for a range of uses including Ice-cream stands, ticket offices, but the one that really caught my eye on a recent trip to Scotland, was the one found on Princes Street in Edinburgh...

I thought it looked Fab! What a great use of a small space; that's definitely what I call thinking outside the box!
