In my last post I introduced the Kelpies - a tourist attraction in Falkirk Scotland... Artist Andy Scott is said to have been inspired by not only the Heavy Horses that worked the canals, but also the Scottish Folklore of the shape shifting water spirits of the Kelpie - hence the name The Kelpies. When I visited not only was I struck by the immense size, how can you not be when they tower 100 feet in the air? What I also loved about them was the design of these immense steel panels, I don't know if this was intentional, but to me the panels continue the whole feel of shape shifting with their various geometric patterns where the wind can whistle through... Taking the steel panels as inspiration, here are some of my original artworks on watercolour paper, that I have been working on recently, I was pleased with how they worked out and look forward to creating a few more in this series...please let me know your thoughts...
As always thank you for reading - see you next week. For the song this week, I'm thinking 'Wind of Change' from the Scorpions...
