Celebrating Scotland...

25/1/2014

So tonight's the night that Scotland and Celts the world over prepare to celebrate the famous Bard Robbie Burns... Scotland has a lot to celebrate with it's beautiful landscapes from the Lochs and the mountains to the great Cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and the like.
Picture
This small country has been the birth place of some great photographers, Harry Benson and Albert Watson some of the commonly known ones, but did you know that without the inspiration and experimentation of two men, Physicist James Clerk Maxwell and Photographer Thomas Sutton back in 1861, we might not being seeing photography as we know it.  As these Scottish men produced the first colour photograph! Who'd have thought that photographing a simple tartan ribbon, which is what they did, would eventually develop and enable great photographers such as Joe Cornish to capture the brooding landscape, for Albert Watson to bring out the beauty of the person, and for all of us, to photograph life in full colour including of course the celebrations of a great Burns night! Hail the Haggis...or whatever they say!
