Music and Food! Now that's always a great combination to me... and so it's with interest that I have been watching the Great British Menu on TV at the moment. This year the chef's are creating dishes to serve at a banquet to help celebrate Fifty years of British Pop Music, and it's fascinating to see how they link their food to the brief . Much like with design or illustration it can be just a few words that helps to spark an idea. With one chef using the quote, "I have complete faith in the individual" made by the founder of Radio Caroline from the days of Pirate radio as inspiration ... it got me thinking what a great contribution Pirate radio had made to music and how we access music today. Because, I don't know about you, even though we have our playlists and streaming apps, I still love listening to music on the radio, especially while I'm working... So while I listen to another chef's inspiration from that programme - "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum, the winner of the first best British Pop single at the Brit Pop awards - (a joint winner with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody); I'm reminded of that quote and trying to let the artist in me have complete faith in the individual...the unique and the quirky!
